Turkish imports of primary aluminum rise from Arab countries

ArabMetal –  According to «Arab metals» database, Turkish primary aluminum imports from Arab countries rose for the fifth consecutive year, increased by 14.88%. The rate of increase in imports from Qatar 6.92%, UAE 47.54%, Bahrain 6.96% Omani exports fell by – 47.67%, and Saudi Arabia became a key partner in 2014, after Ma'aden’s smelter  entering commercial operation at the end of the year 2013.

Turkish imports amounted to 279,889 tons of primary aluminum in 2014, compared to 243,641 tons in the year 2013. The value of imports of $ 655.1 million in 2014, compared with $ 560 million in 2013  CIF Turkish ports, increased by 17%.

The GCC countries share of  was 98% of the total Turkish imports.

Qatar with 98,285 tons, UAE with 67,929 tons, Bahrain to 42,104 tons and Saudi Arabia 33,657, Oman 32,119 tons. Other imports from five Arab countries reached to 5795 tons of secondary aluminum, which is produced from aluminum scrap.
